Go over the three steps your child should follow if they ever see a gun: Stop. Run away. Find an adult.

If you see a gun that looks like a toy in your friend's room or their playroom, is it probably a real gun or a toy?
Child
A toy.

If you see a gun that looks like a toy or a real gun, and it's in your friend's parents' bedroom or home office, is it probably a real gun or a toy?
Child
A real gun.

What should you do if you see something that looks like a gun in a place where a toy should not be found?
Child
Stop. Run away. Find an adult.
Context matters. Use these photos as a starting point for teaching your children about the locations where real guns might be kept in a home — and why context is the most important clue.
