MISSION

Mission – THIS IS A GUN

Mission

The goal is simple. Fewer preventable tragedies involving children and firearms.

Most incidents don't come from malice. They come from curiosity, confusion, and silence.

A child finds something they do not understand. An adult assumes a conversation can wait. That gap is where mistakes happen.

This work exists to close that gap.

Make firearm safety a standard, early conversation in every home where a gun is present...and in every home where they are not.

Not a reaction after something goes wrong. Not a vague warning. A clear, direct understanding of what a firearm is, what it does, and how it must be treated.

Parents are not failing because they do not care. They are failing because no one has given them a simple, effective way to explain this to a child.

The industry sells firearms. It does not consistently equip families to have this conversation. That is the opportunity.

A tool that removes uncertainty — before curiosity turns into risk.

This project is built to give parents something straightforward, age-appropriate, and grounded in reality. Something a parent can use before curiosity turns into risk.

At the same time, this mission supports responsible gun ownership. Safety is not separate from ownership. It is part of it. Retailers, ranges, and instructors have an opportunity to reinforce that standard at the moment it matters most — when a firearm enters a home.

Not only awareness. Behavior change.

Awareness does nothing on its own. The objective is earlier conversations. Clearer understanding. Fewer preventable incidents.

If that happens at scale, the outcome is obvious.

For Families

Start the conversation before it becomes a risk. Get the book and make firearm safety something your child understands, not something they guess about.

For Retailers & Training Facilities

Make safety part of the purchase, not an afterthought. Stock the book and give your customers a clear way to bring firearm safety into their homes.
